REPORTING AN OVERGROWN PROPERTY
The City of Cape Town welcomes participation by South Peninsula communities in reporting overgrown properties and participating in the fight against Aliens.
Make your own neighbourhood safe, by reporting properties and road verges in your area that are overgrown and pose a fire risk or are infested with any of the invasive alien plants portrayed on this website. You can also help by checking that your local firebreaks are well maintained and report any signs of neglect to the authorities as well.

How to Report
You do not need to make a detailed survey as shown below – just send an email or fax, making sure that either the erf number or street address is clearly given and just stress that you are concerned that this property poses a severe fire risk to the neighbourhood. To stress the urgency, get as many of your neighbours as you can to send a similar email to the council – keep a copy of your email for further reference.
If you can identify the plants, so much the better – but this is not really necessary.
Who to Contact
Send your email to both of the following council officials.
The Council will then serve a notice on the landowners demanding that they clear their land of invasive aliens and will take further action as necessary.
