Baboon Facts 4: Baboon Monitors

Baboons are wild animals. Their survival on the Peninsula depends on keeping them separate from a growing human population, some of whom sadly shoot, maim them, and set their dogs on them. When the first attempts were made to keep baboons out of residential areas, the term ‘monitor’ was used for the people paid to follow the troop. Summer – golden labrador – missing

Today, Sunday 25.03.2012, at Glencairn beach between 9-9.40am, Summer was spooked by a two kite surfers. She ran along the railway line for a short way and then we were told by on lookers that she crossed the road and disappeared into the wetland area. We have been looking for her for over 3 hours and I still cannot find her. She is micro-chipped and has her name tag with our contact details on her collar. Erf 60 alien vegetation removal

Please note, especially people living in Glencairn Heights, Gordon’s has contracted to have the alien vegetation in Section C on Erf 60 removed by means of cutting and the use of herbicides. The Contractor has started and arrives in a bakkie, which he parks near the fire break. His employees, wearing bright orange T-shirts, can be seen walking up through Glencairn Heights.
